Our Goal

The primary goal of Holiday Cards for our Military Challenge is the collection and delivery of personalized, signed expressions of respect, caring and gratitude to deployed U.S. troops. Veterans, & Military Families.

Your personalized signed holiday cards and letters reflect your genuine support and appreciation for our military heroes , letting them know that they are not alone during the winter holiday season.  Our goals have expanded to sending caring cards of connection throughout the year. Your messages offer a connection to home, a bridge of caring, and a taste of the holidays to our beloved Warriors.

The Challenge Story

Over two decades ago, Dr. Laura Landerman-Garber handed out Holiday Cards to her Family at Thanksgiving, asking them to write messages to our Military Heroes; it was to be their “ticket to turkey”!

Flash forward to October 2017, when she became determined to send cards to a family friend aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and to each member of that Navy Aircraft Carrier, then deployed and out to sea.

Cards Received With Gratitude

The success of the Holiday Card Challenge is just in the knowing that your gifts of the heart reached our Warriors to let them know that we support them and are thinking about them all year round. Seeing their smiles in photos and reading their own notes to the Holiday Card Challenge Team are extra bonuses! Check out our photo galleries here and go to Holiday Card Challenge on Facebook and Instagram for more photos!

The card recipients can not directly reply to our card signers as they are working in combat zones abroad, Bases state-side, in Veteran Care Centers, and other locations that can not be public ally disclosed for reasons of security , We do feel their gratitude and send them love, cheer, and support!

Cards2Connect

During the Covid Pandemic, Dr. Landerman-Garber teamed up with U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (NH) to create the CARDS2CONNECT Challenge. By writing notes and cards to our Veterans who had been isolated during the Pandemic, our Veterans in hospitals, assisted living and nursing home communities were reminded of our care and appreciation for their Service. The Program has since been successful in sending thousands of cards to Veterans across the Nation. The Program now also sends cards to Veterans in areas of housing insecurity and are distributed at Veterans Centers that provide meals to our treasured Veterans. Cards of gratitude to those who have served our Country in the past have become a central part of our mission...
