Here in NH, we love the snow-life but when we are ready for Spring, we wish for the mud-season to pass quickly! Flowers are starting to bloom and for all of us who share the mission of Holiday Cards 4 Our Military Challenge, it also means that the Christmas-Hanukah-Kwanzaa holidays are not really that far away! Groups have already been contacting me to join in, wanting to plan ahead! I just love the Christmas In July concept which really means, YOU CAN SIGN HOLIDAY CARDS ALL YEAR LONG! I love the stories of summer picnics and card signing as well as Spring -n-Summer rainy day activities (at home and at camps!) that mean it-is-time-to-sign-some-cards.
Check out the guideline sections on the website for ideas and both the photo galleries and media corner for inspiration! And I am ALWAYS available to assist in any way. You can contact me at holidaycardsnh@gmail.com and on Facebook /Instagram (Holiday Card Challenge) and on LinkedIn (Holiday Cards 4 Our Military Challenge or Dr. Laura Landerman Garber)
May has been busy and there is more to come before the end of the month! Sending out your 7,000 Happy Spring 4 Troops cards was spectacular and I just know that all that received them are smiling! We are organizing the cards and Butterflies4Smiles to send to the 82nd Airborne to distribute to the Ukrainian children and military. I have been honored to visit the Vet Center in Hooksett NH with US Senator Maggie Hassan to share your cards and to hear directly from the Veterans and their families how it feels to receive your messages of care and gratitude. I loved my invitation from SGT Mac (Marines) of Forge VFR Health to attend a lunch with Veterans and their families at FT Devens-Clear Path Program . It is spectacular to visit with Veterans, some from WW2! It was also amazing to talk with a group of 5th graders in Hollis, NH, each writing cards to our Troops . Their questions were so thoughtful and their gratitude to our Military warmed my heart!
Forge VFR Health has declared May , Holiday Cards 4 our Military Challenge Month! Their offices in NH, NY, NJ, VA, and PA are engaged in a happy competition to see who can create the most cards. I am thinking that the winner may need a trophy or at least a pizza luncheon! If your business or even your extended family wants to do something like that, let me know!
Next week, I am excited to have LTC JJ Johnson USAF VP Military and Veterans Affairs for the nonprofit come to NH. From that first phone call years ago, he has been a full and complete partner on our shared mission to connect with our Troops, Veterans , and Military Families. We will visit with Governor Sununu , the State of NH Military Affairs and Veteran Services Staff, Operation Delta Dog, WZID Radio, and others in New England who embrace the Challenge. We are also so incredibly honored to receive the Granite State Award from UNH Manchester and will attend Commencement. A whirlwind visit for sure
Keep your emails and messages on social media coming. From the get-go, I have said IT TAKES A VILLAGE!!!
