How is it possible that the summer is almost over and that school bells are ringing again across the Country? That also means that the Holiday Card Challenge is in full swing with cards coming in daily from across the USA and Canada! It seems to me that our Troops need us more than ever, feeling the distance between their deployment or training location and their homes!
Welcome back to those who have joined in before and welcome to all newcomers. Please feel free to contact me any time with questions and all ideas are encouraged. As I have said from the beginning, IT TAKES A VILLAGE!
Many of you have asked about deadlines. There really are two…October 31 or thereabouts is for those cards to go overseas and pretty much any time after that, is perfect for those cards sent to our Warriors who are stationed-in-place within the USA. ANd trust me, there are thousands of Troops far from home across the Country. PS. THe reasons I ask if possible for cards to come in well before the holidays include the need to proof read each card, count, bundle, and pack up into boxes. THen there is the fact that our military locations are often thousands of miles away, including the aircraft carriers that have their own system of package delivery. A Troop member once told me that his Unit was in a very remote location and that mail only came so often each month.
And then there is the drop box and mailing locations. As of Labor Day 2021, there are drop boxes across the State of NH at: Hollis Pharmacy (Free cards. The box is available 24/7 out front), Fulchino Vineyard in Hollis (Free cards), Sals Pizza in Concord ( Free cards. On Storrs Street) , Mayor Joyce Craig’s Office in Manchester (Free cards. In City Hall), WOKQ Radio Station in Dover (Free cards. On Middle Street) , All Franklin Savings across the State, All People’s United Banks across the State ( Free cards), Litchfield Town Hall ( Town Clerk) , US Congressman Chris Pappas Offices Manchester & Dover ( Free cards), and more to come.
