Greetings to all of the amazing supporters and partners of the Holiday Card Challenge. Happy Holidays and as we say here in New Hampshire, bring on the snow! Whether you are sitting under a palm tree, in the desert, on a mountain, out to sea… your support means the world to our Troops, Veterans, and our Military Families!
It continues to be a surreal journey each time a box comes in, filled with your cards of care and holiday cheer! Keep them coming as we will get them out in the next two weeks or we will tuck them safely away for 2022! 13,000 cards have already been sent out to the Coast Guard and in the next two weeks, the big mailing days will commence. Right now 80,000 are already packed up and ready to ship out with tens of thousands more being bundled up as I write! Your cards will be going around the World to Troops, Veterans, and Military Families to let them know we care and are thinking of them during the holiday season. Your cards go to Bases overseas , US Embassies, remote camp locations, Naval vessels, stationed- in-place Bases within the US, to all of our Borders, Veterans Homes and Centers, US National Guard… you name it and we will mail them to our Warriors! They are mailed out and they are hand delivered! We are even sending cards with dog cookies attached to our K9 Units thanks to the creativity and generosity of Rocky River Elementary School in Concord NC!
Many of you have asked about a deadline. I call it a fluid deadline as you may remember I encouraged early card signing , even with the Christmas Kwanza Hanukah In July idea in mind. But we do not turn cards away and if I may say, we are very assertive and creative with getting your cards out whenever they show up. I have received cards in late December and in January…we figure something out!
We have been so fortunate to receive national attention again this year which has not only led us to receiving cards form ALL 50 STATES but also to corporations, large and small, partnering with us with generous donations. Your generosity, whether it is a crumpled $1 bill from a six year old wanting to help or thousands of dollars from a international business… is why we can send out the cards to our Warriors. We have partnered with GIvebutter.com as one such platform to make it easy to make a donation towards the costs of postage and supplies to mail your cards. In November, we launched our first fundraiser “$18 For 18 Years For $18K” through the GIvebutter platform, celebrating our 18 years of sending cards! I want to thank again those supporters who made donations; the checks that were quietly tucked into boxes of cards with lovely notes were like a holiday present every time I found one! Thank you . No donation is too small as we dream big!
