It is December and the cards by the tens of thousands have been coming in and have been mailed out!! As of today, 12/6/22, close to 175,000 have been packed out and most of them already sent out around the Globe, carrying your spectacular cards of holiday cheer and care to our Troops, Veterans, and their Families. And yes from Concord, NC, hundreds of YAPPY HOLIDAY cards for our military working dogs too! AND… cards are still coming in! We try hard to get them all out but at this point, it is likely that your cards will be lovingly tucked away for next year. BUT we will try our hardest to get them all out for this holiday season.
If you are still sending them in , we are asking you to proof read them to make sure there is nothing political or possibly triggering for our Warriors. Mix up the cards with different card signers into bundles of ten cards and put a rubber band around them. THAT would make all the difference at this date. THANK YOU
The children’s’ cards seem to focus on food likes and dislikes (Dear Warrior I like tuna fish..sausage… Mac and cheese.. how about you?) as well as concern for the safety of our Troops and their families (Dear Warrior. Please be safe and follow the rules like I do at school . I wouldn’t want you to have to go to the nurse like I did when I hurt my finger on the swing set. ). That combination makes for a card that will bring smiles as well as tears. All the cards express in their own unique ways, the #attitudeofgratitude that we have for those Serving to defend our freedoms.
Groups and companies, small and large, have joined in to write cards and to help proofread and sort them to get them ready for us to pack up and mail. Volunteers come forth with open hearts and an energy that makes all of this a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ! When we say #ittakesavillage, we mean it!!
The most challenging part for me in this is putting out requests for donations and partnerships. So many of you have stepped up with generosity, whether it is $1.00 or $1,000 or more… Seriously, each penny counts as we are fully volunteer and donation driven being a nonprofit 501c3. Many of you have offered to SPONSOR-A-BOX which is amazing! For $100, a box of500-1,000 cards can be mailed out! ANd so many of you have gone on GIvebutter.com to gift a donation to partner with us. THANK YOU THANK YOU For your past present and hopefully for your future support.
We hope that you join us n Facebook and Instagram at HOLIDAY CARD CHALLENGE . This year we included QR Codes with the cards, hoping hat we will see photos of smiling faces of our Warriors with your cards. AND it works, Check it out!
